The Simulation of Radio Wave Propagation in Single/Multi-Knife-Edge Scenario with Two-Way Parabolic Equation

In this article, we deduces the expression the Two-Way Parabolic Equation method(2WPE). First, in the single-knife-edge scenario, the 2WPE method is used to solve the radio wave propagation problem. The numerical results obtained using the 2WPE were analyzed and compared with those from the One-Way Parabolic Equation method(1WPE). Furthermore, the results were compared and analyzed with the physical mechanism of radio wave propagation. It confirms the correctness of the 2WPE. In the multi-knife-edge scenario, the reflection of radio waves between adjacent peaks was considered. And the reasons for the differences in the propagation factor obtained from the 2WPE and the 1WPE were analyzed. By analyzing the differences of the electric field distribution at different transmitting antenna height, it was concluded that raising the height of the transmitting antenna appropriately can reduce the impact of uneven terrain and obstacles on the signal. The 2WPE can consider the backward propagation field of radio waves, providing more accurate predictions than the 1WPE.
