Research on the amplitude limiting characteristics of Ultra-Wideband Energy Selective Surface
This article proposes an ultra-wideband energy selective surface (ESS) model consisting of three layers loaded diodes with different metal structure, in which cross-metal strips and metal gate loaded diodes are used to achieve dual polarization protection. The three-layer ESS uses the switching characteristics of diodes to realize adaptive protection against high-power microwaves (HPM). When a low-power microwave is incident, the diode is turned off, and the electromagnetic (EM) wave passes through with less insertion loss. When high-power microwave is incident, the diode is in the on-state, shielding HPM to achieve protection. The simulation results show that the ESS can obtain insertion loss (IL) less than 1dB and shielding efficiency (SE) greater than 27dB at 7.84GHz-23.01GHz, which can realize efficient protection against high-power microwaves.
