Radiation Analysis of Electrically Large Structures Using a Combination of the Fast Dipole Method and the Physical Optics Approach

A hybrid approach integrating the fast dipole method (FDM) and physical optics (PO) is presented for the analysis of electrically large structures. This method accelerates the integration of method-of-moments (MoM) self-interactions and matrix-vector multiplications, streamlined through a Taylor’s series expansion. The approach is further refined using the equivalent dipole moment method (EDM) for impedance calculations. Compared to conventional methods, our technique demonstrates improved efficiency and accuracy.

Abstract

A hybrid approach integrating the fast dipole method (FDM) and physical optics (PO) is presented for the analysis of electrically large structures. This method accelerates the integration of method-of-moments (MoM) self-interactions and matrix-vector multiplications, streamlined through a Taylor’s series expansion. The approach is further refined using the equivalent dipole moment method (EDM) for impedance calculations. Compared to conventional methods, our technique demonstrates improved efficiency and accuracy.
