Multi-Resolution Preconditioned Augmented EFIE for Adaptive h-Refinement

In this paper, a novel multi-resolution preconditioned augmented electric field integral equation (MR-AEFIE) suitable for adaptive h-refinement based on residual error estimation is presented. The proposed MR-AEFIE effectively eliminates spurious resonances by incorporating the normal boundary condition of a perfect conductor into the MR-EFIE formulation. This resolves the issue where spurious internal resonances hinder the accurate estimation of errors by the residual estimator. Furthermore, by exclusively employing the $\mathcal{L}$-operator, the MR-AEFIE avoids the accuracy degradation caused by the magnetic field integral equation (MFIE) and retains the pure characteristics of the electric field. Consequently, it can analyze scattering and radiation problems defined solely by the electric field with high fidelity.
