Asymmetric square-slotted conformal antenna for GPS applications
In this paper, a circularly polarized(CP) conformal microstrip patch antenna with asymmetric rectangular slots is designed for GPS systems. Sequential embedding of four asymmetric rectangular slots in a circular patch to excite two orthogonal modes of CP radiation and reduce antenna size. Four symmetric slits are symmetrically embedded along the orthogonal directions of the asymmetric rectangular slotted patch to further reduce the antenna size. The shape of the antenna is conformal to the surface of the cylinder, allowing the antenna to be integrated within the body of the cylindrical carrier. The realized antenna is measured the 10 dB impedance bandwidth of this antenna is 11 MHz (1.571~1.582 GHz) and the 3 dB axial-ratio(AR) bandwidth is 10 MHz (1.573~1.583 GHz) .
