Mechanically Reconfigurable Metasurfaces Enabled by Bianisotropic Effect in 3D Curved Conformal Meta-atoms

The manipulation of electromagnetic wavefronts using metasurfaces has garnered significant attention and found numerous applications. Recently, the focus has shifted towards reconfigurable metasurfaces, yet achieving dynamic control over their bianisotropy remains challenging. In this study, we propose a novel approach utilizing a 3D curved rotating magnetoelectric system. By manipulating the lateral length, radius, and gap of split ring resonators, we demonstrate the ability to modulate frequency. Additionally, we analyze the asymmetric reflection properties of the rotating metasurface and calculate its bianisotropy in multiple scattering scenarios. Finally, we showcase the utility of this rotating system for beam steering. Our findings suggest promising implications for communication and imaging technologies.
