A Broadband Wide-Angle Microstrip Antenna Based on Coplanar Coupling L-shaped Probe
In this paper, a broadband wide-angle microstrip antenna with coplanar coupling L-shaped probe (CCLP) is presented. The CCLP is composed of a cylinder probe perpendicular to the patch and a microstrip line with dimension gradient parallel to the patch. The tapered impedance achieved by the CCLP with the tapered dimension. Therefore, the antenna bandwidth has been expended dramatically. In addition, the traditional feeding method of interlayer coupling with at least two layers of substrates has been replaced by coplanar coupling. The difficulty and cost of the processing has been greatly reduced. By optimizing the shape and size of the CCLP, The bandwidth of the proposed antenna with the VSWR ⩽ 2.0 is from 7.3 GHz to 12.6 GHz, with a relative bandwidth of about 53%. The active VSWR is less than 2.0 in the frequency band of 7.5 GHz-12.3 GHz within the scanning angle range of 0°-45°. When the incidence angle increases to 60°, the bandwidth is still maintain 6.5 GHz-11.2 GHz with active VSWR⩽ 2.0 .
