Omnidirectional High Gain Base Station Antenna

In this paper, a high gain omnidirectional antenna array based on folded dipole is designed. The antenna, operating in the UHF band with its length less than 3m, owns 8 folded dipole units placed vertically to form a linear array in order to realize the omnidirectional characteristics. The antenna is processed and measured. The measurement shows that the omnidirectional antenna array is able to realize a VSWR of less than 1.5, a roundness of the directivity pattern in horizontal plane less than 0.5dB, and a gain of more than 7.0dBi within the working band of a relative bandwidth of 10%. The measured results show that the antenna has good horizontal omnidirectional radiation characteristics in the designed frequency bands, which is in good agreement with the simulation.

The measured results show that the antenna has good horizontal omnidirectional radiation characteristics in the designed frequency bands, which is in good agreement with the simulation.
