Enhancing Quality of Life: the Impact of Assistive Technology on User Well-Being

This study examines the impact of lower limb prostheses on user well-being, focusing on how these assistive technologies enhance mobility, independence, and social participation for individuals with disabilities. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combined a cross-sectional survey of 100 participants with in-depth interviews of 20 selected individuals to capture both quantitative data and personal experiences. The results demonstrate a high level of user satisfaction, with 70% of participants expressing contentment with their prosthetic devices. Key findings underscore the critical importance of personalized fittings and ergonomic designs in improving users' quality of life. The study highlights the significant role of assistive technology in enhancing various aspects of daily living for individuals with limb amputations. Based on these insights, the research recommends that manufacturers and healthcare providers prioritize improvements in device customization, comfort, and support services. By addressing these areas, the potential for assistive technology to substantially elevate the quality of life for prosthetic users can be more fully realized, contributing to greater independence and well-being.
