Assessment Of Facility Readiness And Knowledge Gaps Among Service Providers For Cervical Cancer Screening At The Primary Health Care Level

This review evaluates the preparedness of Primary Health Care (PHC) centers in providing cervical cancer screening and identifies knowledge deficiencies among healthcare providers. An analysis of both quantitative and qualitative studies highlights significant disparities in the availability of screening equipment, revealing that only 60% of facilities possess basic screening tools, while more advanced options like Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) kits are available in just 45%.The review also emphasizes gaps in provider knowledge, with only 55% having received training in the past year and 30% lacking awareness of national screening guidelines.Common challenges identified among nursing staff include inadequate equipment, insufficient training, and limited community awareness, all of which hinder effective screening. To address these issues, the review discusses the importance of financing facility improvements, enhancing provider education, and fostering community engagement to promote cervical cancer screening.By tackling these barriers, we can improve screening rates and ultimately reduce cervical cancer morbidity and mortality, particularly in underserved populations.
