Optimization of Microwave-Assisted Magnetic Recording Media for Spin-Torque Oscillators With Dual Field Generating Layers
Exchange-coupled composite (ECC) magnetic recording media were optimized for microwave-assisted magnetic recording (MAMR) using spin torque oscillators (STOs) with dual field generating layers (FGLs). The optimized recording medium showed a higher figure of merit (FOM) (signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)/written track width) for dual FGL STOs than single FGL STOs due to narrower written tracks. It is supposed that flux closure at the edges of the two FGLs was the reason for this.
