PREVALÊNCIA DE DOENÇAS CRÔNICAS NÃO TRANSMISSÍVEIS E ESTILO DE VIDA ENTRE SERVIDORES PÚBLICOS DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO TOCANTINS
Non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the Brazilian population. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of self-reported NCDs and lifestyle factors among public servants at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) in 2021. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire to collect data on self-reported NCDs and health habits of UFT employees. Of the 164 participants, 40.2% reported a diagnosis of NCDs, with systemic arterial hypertension being the most common. Most of these employees reported eating meals at home, had a family history of NCDs, identified as mixed-race (parda), and worked full-time. The high prevalence of NCDs highlights the need for preventive actions. Factors such as dietary habits and family history underscore the importance of health promotion strategies. There is a need to implement health promotion and NCD prevention programs to improve the quality of life of UFT employees.
