Experimental Research of Underwater Polarization Imaging Based on Image Quality Assessment
Underwater optical imaging technology is an important component of underwater target detection technology, which has enormous application potential in various fields such as marine resource exploration and maritime search and rescue. Due to the severe absorption and scattering effects of light waves during underwater propagation, the image quality of imaging results deteriorates. Therefore, ordinary optical imaging techniques are often difficult to achieve ideal imaging results in underwater environments. This article focuses on the demand for high-quality imaging effects in underwater optical detection. By utilizing the suppression effect of polarized light imaging on diffuse reflection light, an underwater polarization imaging system is constructed by combining polarized light with a polarization camera. Relevant validation experiments are designed, and MATLAB software is used for comparative assessment of image quality. The results show that using polarization underwater imaging has improved image quality compared to traditional underwater imaging. The images obtained through underwater polarization optical imaging can better reflect important information such as edge details and texture contours of underwater targets. Underwater polarization imaging provides a new feasible method for underwater operations and resource detection.
