A Study on the Constructionalization of Degree Adverbs in Modern Chinese

This study investigates the combinatory patterns of contemporary Chinese constructions ‘很·太·非常+X’ from a usage-based approach perspective, based on data analysis and statistical analysis. The correlations between these constructions are then presented as visual graphs to elucidate the process of constructionalization. First, data analysis was conducted to examine the process of constructionalization of the ‘很·太·非常+X’ constructions. Second, based on the results of the data analysis, the combinatory patterns of the top 50 words in each part of speech were compared. The correlations between constructions were then presented as visual graphs, and their similarities and differences were analyzed.
