Methods: This study is an integrative review of the literature, based on the virtual libraries BVS and SCIELO with the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE and PUBMED. A temporal study was carried out over the last 5 years due to the updates and wealth of information on the topic addressed. Results: 738 articles were identified in the consulted databases. First, the title was read according to the descriptors in each database. After reading the titles, 116 articles were selected for reading the abstract and categorized according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Next, the complete reading of 25 articles was screened and those that were relevant were selected. Final considerations: However, it is important to emphasize that even though pressure injuries are considered a public health problem, numerous practices and methods are adopted to improve the care of these patients in intensive care units and in the prevention and treatment of those affected by pressure injuries.
