Uji Daya Hambat Ekstrak Etanol Daun Kersen (Muntingia Calabura Linn) terhadap Bakteri Gram Negatif (Eschericia Coli) dan Bakteri Gram Positif (Staphylococcus Aureus)

ABSTRACT Infectious diseases are a global health problem, especially in developing countries because they can cause morbidity and death rates that are quite high in a fairly short period of time. According to the World Health Organization (2017) low-income countries are at risk of having a high mortality rate due to Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection, Tuberculosis and malaria as well as other infectious diseases. Based on data from the Statistics agency (2021), West Nusa Tenggara Province obtained 1,125,608 cases of infectious diseases. Bacteria that can cause infectious diseases in humans are Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This study aims to measure the inhibition zone of ethanol extract of kersen leaves (Muntingia calabura Linn) against the growth of gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli and gram-positive bacteria Staphylocococcus aureus. The method used in this study was Kirby Bauer's well to see the effects of kersen leaf ethanol extract (Muntingia calabura Linn) Conducted in a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 6 treatment groups on each bacterium using concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, with the positive control group Ciprofloxcacin and the negative control group Aquadest. The results of the Kruskall-wallis statistical test showed that concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% had no effect in inhibiting the growth of gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli with P-value = 1,000. The results of the Kruskall-wallis statistical test showed that concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% were influential in inhibiting the growth of gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus with P-value = 000.1.
