Evaluation of a dietary record used in treatment of patients with functional gastrointestinal symptoms: an initial study

Background and aim: To evaluate diet and facilitate appropriate dietary interventions in patients with functional gastrointestinal symptoms, it is necessary to assess dietary intake. Dietitians at Lovisenberg Diaconal Hospital (LDH) have developed a dietary record to assess diet and symptoms in this patient group. This tool has been used in clinical practice for several years, but its ability to assess dietary intake has not been evaluated. The present study aimed to evaluate the Lovisenberg Food Records’ (LFR) ability to assess the frequency of intake of predefined food groups, compared to a weighed food record (WFR) as a reference method.
