FAULT MODELING BASED ON SEISMIC INTENSITY DATA OF HISTORICAL CRUSTAL EARTHQUAKES

We proposed a fault modeling method based on seismic intensity data of historical crustal earthquake. First, an attenuation equation and an empirical equation between seismic intensity level Ie and short-period spectral level A were evaluated from recent crustal earthquakes data. Next, the short-period energy distribution and short-period level were obtained from the seismic intensity data of the target historical earthquake (here, the 1948 Fukui earthquake). Fault parameters were modeled using the asperity model. Broadband ground motions were simulated by the hybrid method. The validity was shown by the consistency between the simulated and the observed seismic intensity.
