A IMPORTÂNCIA E OS EFEITOS BENÉFICOS DA FISIOTERAPIA NO TRATAMENTO COM PACIENTES DIAGNOSTICADOS COM EPILEPSIA.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures resulting from abnormal electrical discharges in the brain. In addition to pharmacological treatment, physiotherapy has been gaining prominence as a complementary approach to improving the quality of life of these patients. OBJECTIVES: This study aims to explore the importance and beneficial effects of physiotherapy in the treatment of patients with epilepsy, highlighting how physiotherapeutic interventions can contribute to seizure control, improvement of motor functions, reduction of physical limitations and increase in functional autonomy. METHOD: Through a literature review, studies that prove the effectiveness of physiotherapy in reducing comorbidities associated with epilepsy, such as postural imbalances, muscle weakness and mobility difficulties, were analyzed. RESULTS: results indicate that, when associated with drug treatment, physiotherapy promotes neuromotor rehabilitation, reducing the frequency of seizures, improving balance, coordination and muscle strength. It is concluded that physiotherapy, by addressing the physical and psychosocial aspects of the patient, plays a fundamental role in improving the quality of life of individuals with epilepsy, becoming a valuable complement to conventional treatment.
