Al Electroplating on Etched CFRP Surfaces in AlCl<sub>3</sub>-EmImCl Ionic Liquids
To improve the wear resistance of CFRP, Al electroplating on the surface was proposed. Etching of the resin on the CFRP surface in sulfuric acid solution was investigated to improve the adhesion of the Al plating film on CFRP. As a result of the etching treatment, more carbon fibers were found on the CFRP surface. Al film was electroplated to the etched CFRP in AlCl 3 -EmImCl ionic liquid; the adhesion strength of the Al plated film to the CFRP surface increased with etching time.
