Charged Higgs decay to $$W^{\pm }H$$ at a high energy lepton collider
Abstract In this work, we present a search strategy for heavy charged Higgs boson at compact linear collider (CLIC) as a future $$e^+e^-$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>e</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> </mml:msup> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>e</mml:mi> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> collider. The signal is charged Higgs boson pair production in two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) followed by $$H^{\pm }\rightarrow W^{\pm }H$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mo>±</mml:mo> </mml:msup> <mml:mo>→</mml:mo> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>W</mml:mi> <mml:mo>±</mml:mo> </mml:msup> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> and $$H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mo>→</mml:mo> <mml:mi>b</mml:mi> <mml:mover> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>b</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>¯</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:mover> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> . Here, H denotes the heavy CP-even neutral Higgs boson of the model. The collider center of mass energy is chosen to be $$\sqrt{s}=1400$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:msqrt> <mml:mi>s</mml:mi> </mml:msqrt> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mn>1400</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> GeV as the second stage of CLIC operation. In this case, $$m_{H^+}<\sqrt{s}/2$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>m</mml:mi> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:msub> <mml:mo><</mml:mo> <mml:msqrt> <mml:mi>s</mml:mi> </mml:msqrt> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> can be explored due to the pair production. It is shown that the signal of charged Higgs in the mass range $$250~ \text {GeV}<m_{H^+}< 650~ \text {GeV}$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mn>250</mml:mn> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mtext>GeV</mml:mtext> <mml:mo><</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>m</mml:mi> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:msub> <mml:mo><</mml:mo> <mml:mn>650</mml:mn> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mtext>GeV</mml:mtext> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> in fully hadronic final state, containing four b -jets from neutral Higgs and four jets from W bosons, can well be observed on top of the standard model background. Finally $$5\sigma $$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mn>5</mml:mn> <mml:mi>σ</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> contours are presented in $$(m_{H^{\pm }},m_{H})$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>m</mml:mi> <mml:msup> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mo>±</mml:mo> </mml:msup> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>,</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>m</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> space for different $$\tan \beta $$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>tan</mml:mo> <mml:mi>β</mml:mi> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> values.
