The application of the Internet of Things in the operation and maintenance management of smart distribution networks

The operation, maintenance, and management level of the distribution network is an important means to improve power supply reliability, and the status of the distribution network depends on equipment operation status monitoring and analysis. A scheme and implementation method for collecting and integrating distribution network information using Internet of Things technology is proposed to address the problems in monitoring the operating status and environment of existing distribution network equipment. An application example of wireless sensor networks is introduced, and a low-cost distributed network of wireless sensors and temperature sensors for monitoring the operating status of cooling fans is introduced. The main applications of Internet of Things technology in distribution networks are discussed. It can improve the safety of the distribution network, reduce detection workload, and lower the operating cost of the distribution network, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of smart grids.
