Robotic sleeve right upper lobectomy with thymic/pericardial fat flap buttress
When feasible, sleeve lobectomy is preferred over pneumonectomy for resection of central lung cancers, as it decreases morbidity while maintaining equivalent disease-free survival.1,2 For the complex procedure of sleeve lobectomy, the robotic approach has been shown to be feasible, safe, and oncologically effective.3 In this report, we provide a detailed technical description of robotic sleeve right upper lobectomy in a patient with endobronchial tumor (Figure 1), with pathology showing a 2.5-cm typical carcinoid tumor, T2aN0 (main bronchus involvement).
