A GPU algorithm for solving the position of new pulsars
Abstract Solving newly discovered pulsars can sometimes be challenging. Position error could drive their pulse arrival times multiple rotations away from predictions. Traditional down-hill fitting algorithms fail when we get pulse rotations wrong. Instead, some trial-and-error methods were proposed, but they still cannot solve all the pulsars. This paper proposes a GPU-based brute-force algorithm that could exhaustively search a large area of trail positions for probable timing solutions. This method could help find phase-connected timing solutions where other methods find it difficult.
