TRATAMENTO FISIOTERAPÊUTICO NA PERFORMANCE DE ATLETAS APÓS RECONSTRUÇÃO CIRÚRGICA DO LIGAMENTO CRUZADO ANTERIOR (R-LCA): UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DA LITERATURA
Sports-related injuries, especially anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, alter knee kinematics, causing instability and, consequently, decreased physical activity. Current literature is consensual in stating that physical therapy is essential and effective in the postoperative period of ACL reconstruction (ACL-R), highlighting the importance of immediate rehabilitation. Thus, the objective of this research was to investigate the influence of physical therapy treatment on the performance of individuals undergoing surgical reconstruction of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL-R). This is an integrative literature review that used the PICO strategy to formulate the guiding question: “Can physical therapy treatment favor the improvement of strength and power performance, patient safety perception index and decrease the risk of injuries in individuals undergoing surgical reconstruction of the ACL-R?”. The search was performed in the following databases: BVS; PEDro; MEDLINE/PubMed and PMC. A total of 7,078 references were found, 6,973 were excluded according to eligibility criteria, resulting in 105 studies inserted in Rayyan, to remove duplicates, leaving 98. After analysis by titles and abstracts, 17 studies were obtained, of which 16 were available in full. After reading the full text, five articles were considered eligible. The studies observed the effectiveness of physical therapy in the post-surgical period of ACL repair with analysis of limb strength and symmetry, range of motion, thigh muscle circumference, stability and safety, demonstrating that, with assertive and individualized prescription, the performance of athletes with ACL repair can be recovered. However, research with more robust designs is necessary for better methodological detailing.
