Estimating Parameters of Signals With Hybrid Sinusoidal and Polynomial Modulation Using RANSAC-Based Approach

The random-sample-consensus-based algorithm is introduced to estimate parameters of frequency-modulated signals incorporating both polynomial and sinusoidal modulation. To achieve a precise estimation of the sinusoidal component, the Aboutanios–Mulgrew estimator is employed. The algorithm has two stages: a rough, performed on an instantaneous frequency estimate, and a fine, dealing with a reconstructed signal phase. The complexity of the proposed algorithm has been thoroughly analyzed and found to be higher than in the state-of-the-art techniques. However, this increased computational burden is justified by the algorithm's greater flexibility in estimating signals with hybrid sinusoidal and polynomial phase signal modulation, and its improved accuracy over existing methods.
