Application of heterogeneous photocatalytic technology in wastewater disinfection under the perspective of water pollution prevention and control law

Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law stipulates that dischargers should treat wastewater before discharging it. An important part of wastewater treatment is the disinfection of bacteria such as fecal coliform, in order to meet the requirements of national standards such as the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Standards for Drinking Water Quality, and the Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Livestock and Poultry Breeding. However, judging from the cases heard by the courts, the discharge of wastewater without qualified treatment is still relatively common, and the wastewater discharged can be divided into four main categories: breeding wastewater, industrial wastewater, domestic wastewater, and medical wastewater. In order to avoid occurrence of theses environmental infringement cases, CN modified TiO2/Opoka was applied as a highly efficient antibacterial material to disinfect the microorganisms in the wastewaters under visible light. It demonstrates great potential for wastewater and drinking water treatment in terms of disinfection demand.
