Linking Objects for Traumatic Companion Animal Loss
A thirty-seven-year-old female suffers traumatic loss when a pack of urban coyotes attacks, mutilates, and kills her 12-year-old pocket beagle, Boogie. Female client endures problematic grief seven-plus months in nature. Among many other symptoms, she experiences intense sorrow, preoccupation with the deceased, and functional impairment. Client and I have been addressing her grief through a series of weekly, 90-minute sessions. In this fourth session, I introduce and articulate the experiential concept of linking objects.
