Construction and Calculation of Vertical Profile Type Port-Containment Buildings Built from Cement-based Composite Materials

The main constituent part of vertical profile type port-containment buildings is a vertical wall. Buildings are distinguished according to the vertical wall’s underwater structure (built from cement-based composite materials), as: 1. Mass concretes and 2. Mass-giants 1. Port containment buildings from mass concretes. In practice, these buildings utilize conventional masses weighing up to 100 tons and Cyclopean masses exceeding 400 tons. This article addresses the technological aspects associated with constructing containment buildings using conventional concrete masses and Cyclopean masses. Key considerations during the design phase include defining stresses in the building's foundation soil arising from its interaction with the stone bed; construction deformations; strength of construction elements; sustainability of the building and its components. 2. Containment buildings from mass-giants. The fabrication, installation, and transportation processes of mass-giant boxes are examined. The strength of box elements at normal and slanted intersections is determined based on design resistance, accounting for overload coefficients corresponding to various stages, including fabrication, transportation, construction, and operation. Formulas are provided to assess the wall of the box under the force exerted by water pressure, including sum of hydrostatic and dynamic pressures. Additionally, formulas are presented to calculate the vertical and horizontal pressures exerted by bulk material. Bottom of the mass-giant box is designed to withstand loads encountered during both construction and operation phases. Within the boundaries of each plot bottom is treated as a tile attached on all four sides and subjected to transverse loads.
