Al-Jazeera as one of the Important Components of Qatar's Soft Power
One of the Qatar’s “soft power” policy instruments is the Al-Jazeera TV company, used by the State to promote national interests. In a relatively short period of time, Qatar was able not only to overcome its geographical and demographic limitations, but also to achieve resonant successes both at the regional and international levels, securing its status as an influential player on a global scale. And using the example of Al-Jazeera, indicators are given that prove the effectiveness of using such a strategy to increase influence on the public abroad. The purpose of the study is to formulate the essence and identify the key components of the “soft power” of the Qatar mass media, which served as the basis for the effective implementation of the ambitious strategies of the small monarchy. At the same time, special attention is paid, with the help of Al-Jazeera, to Qatar’s promotion of its image as a progressive and modern state, a useful military-political partner, a reliable supplier of energy resources, a soughtafter international mediator, a donor of humanitarian aid and an influential investor, as well as an educational, cultural, transport, financial and a tourist center.
