Cross-Sectional Study: Survey On Psychological Well Being Among Middle-Aged Individuals.

In this 21st century, cardiovascular risks are more common due to psychological well-being and stress irrespective of age. Aim of the study:To identify the level of psychological stress in middle-aged individuals aged 34 to 45 years old using the Psychological Well Being Index short form -18-item questionnaire.Methodology: The participants were chosen based on inclusion criteria after providing informed consent. They were also given a proforma to complete and an 18-item short-form questionnaire called the Psychological Well-Being Index to measure their psychological stress levels. The people received instructions on how to complete the questionnaire in English. It took roughly three to five minutes to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire has 18 items and a reading level between sixth and eighth grade. The proforma and questionnaire are converted to a Google Form. They received the appropriate link on their Whats App or to their email address and are asked to fill it out and submit it. Results:The study surveyed 50 participants aged 34 to 45 to evaluate psychological stress levels using Ryff's 18-item Psychological Well-Being Index.Among the participants, the age group 35-40 was found to be the most affected, with a higher frequency of individuals in this range exhibiting significant psychological stress. The sample was evenly distributed between males and females, each representing 50% of the total participants.Analysis of the Ryff's 18-item scores revealed that most participants scored between 2 and 4, indicating moderate to high levels of psychological stress.Specifically, the scores were distributed as follows: 6 participants scored 7, 6 scored 6, 6 scored 5, 10 scored 4, 10 scored 3, and 10 scored 2, with no participants scoring 1.These findings highlight a notable prevalence of psychological stress in middle-aged individuals, particularly those aged 35-40, suggesting the need for targeted interventions to mitigate stress and enhance psychological wellbeing in this demographic. Conclusion:This study underscores the importance of psychological well-being in cardiovascular health, particularly in middle-aged individuals. The findings indicate that younger middle-aged adults (35-40 years) are more affected by psychological stress, which significantly impacts their cardiovascular health.Addressing psychological stress through interventions aimed at improving mental health, promoting healthy lifestyle choices, and enhancing adaptive coping mechanisms is crucial for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.Further research is needed to explore targeted strategies for different age groups to effectively mitigate the impact of psychological stress on cardiovascular health.
