A Study On Famous JorasankoThakurbari(Tagore’s House) Of Kolkata And Some Unknown Letters Of Thakurbari
With the advancement of technology, the postmen have taken their livelihood from the chest of rural Bengal forever. With the incredible progress of this technology, the telegraph, an alternative system of letters, has already made its place in the pages of history. Then came the telephone, the mobile system taking away all rights of the letter in its wake.It is surprising to think that the use of words like 'Sricharaneshu' and 'iti' will be lost forever. No more will anyone be heard saying 'Go home and send letters.' Moving towards the village one can see that the post offices are slowly being converted into post-payment banks. The importance of letters is lost forever. The letter will remain only in the pages of history. However, Bengali literature will retain the emotion and tradition of letters. As the number of epigraphs is not less in the vast scope of Bengali literature, the use of epigraphs in literature is also not less. The use of multiple letters in the Bengali literature of the ancient and medieval times, which gave rise to the literature, continues equally in the modern era as well. Rabindranath expanded that line further. He composed a number of epistolary as well as literary epitaphs, and above all personal letters, re-opened in their old wrappers and presented in new forms, which rose to prominence. Even simple subjects have been given a unique form by the touch of the poet's pen and that trend is prevalent in Rabindranath's post-literature. Therefore, the importance of these letters in Bengali literature is immense. And the tradition of Rabindranath and his family will be captured in these letters and letter based literature.
