Explorative Ayurvedic Aloe-Fish Scale Dressing for Wound Care-A Comprehensive Review

Introduction: The Aloe-Fish Scale Dressing is a wound dressing of Herbo mineral composition designed to address the prevalent challenges of wound management, particularly in developing countries.Materials and Methods: Rohu fish scale, Aloe vera pulp, roller bandage.The process begins with the collection of Rohu fish scales, typically ranging from 100 to 160 grams.The collected fish scales undergo a thorough washing procedure with tap water, emphasizing cleanliness.Following the washing process, the fish scales were dried in sunlight for 48 hours, ensuring the removal of excess moisture.The dried fish scales undergo purification using rough lemon juice (Citrus Jambiri) in multiple cycles.This step enhances the cleansing properties of the fish scales.The purified material was then subjected to calcination in a sealed earthen crucible.Cow dung cakes were employed in a Varaha Puta to control the ashing process, resulting in fish scale ash.The fish scale ash undergoes trituration (Bhavana) in a small-sized marble porcelain mortar and pestle.Aloe Vera pulp was added in equal amounts, and the process was repeated iteratively.The result was a homogeneous composition of approximately 30 grams of black-colored fish scale ash blended with Aloe Vera pulp.The final composition was impregnated onto a 100% cotton gauze base.This process was performed under sterile conditions to ensure the aseptic quality of the dressing.The impregnated gauze was dried under ultraviolet rays cabinet for 24 hours, further emphasizing the importance of sterilization.The dried and sterilized Aloe-Fish Scale dressing was stored in an airtight container, preserving its therapeutic properties for future use.Results: Combining the therapeutic properties of Rohu fish scales and Aloe Vera pulp, the dressing offers a cost-effective and technically straight forward solution for promoting optimal wound healing.Discussion: The carefully curated method of preparation ensures the purity and efficacy of the dressing, with key ingredients providing collagen, Vitamin C, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.Notably, the dressing's sustained release capabilities contribute to prolonged therapeutic effects.With its emphasis on affordability, accessibility, and effectiveness, the Aloe-Fish Scale Dressing presents a promising avenue for advancing wound care in resource-constrained regions.Conclusion: This dressing is rooted in herb mineral formulations, combining the benefits of Rohu Fish Scales, Jambir Svarasa (Rough Lemon Juice), and Kumari pulp (Aloe Vera) to provide an effective and economically feasible solution for wound healing.
