Application of Robotic Exploration Principles to the Challenge of Cybersecurity Penetration Testing

An extensive body of work exists related to robots conducting search operations of an operating region. Penetration testing can be presented as a region-constrained search for vulnerabilities and exploitable conditions. Given this, it has similarities to robotic search. This paper considers how robotic search principles can be applied to cybersecurity penetration testing. It presents and evaluates a system designed for this purpose.

Abstract

An extensive body of work exists related to robots conducting search operations of an operating region. Penetration testing can be presented as a region-constrained search for vulnerabilities and exploitable conditions. Given this, it has similarities to robotic search. This paper considers how robotic search principles can be applied to cybersecurity penetration testing. It presents and evaluates a system designed for this purpose.
