A Fault- Tolerant Multilevel Inverter Topology with Three Source Configuration Using Lower Number of Switches
For a reliable power electronic system, fault-tolerant power converters play an important role. Most of the power converter are highly prone to faults due to various operating conditions. A power quality assessment of a three-source topology has been carried out. Based on the analysis, a new fault-tolerant multilevel inverter (FT-MLI) has been proposed in this paper, which can be operated with switch open circuit fault conditions. The proposed FT -MLI has an additional three switches to achieve fault-tolerant operation. A fault-tolerant analysis along with the simulation and experimental results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed FT-MLI topology.
