DC Microgrids Enabled with Triple Active Bridge Converter for Remote Areas
This paper presents a DC microgrid (DC MG) architecture to supply critical power to remote field areas. The DC MG is deployed by integrating PV and ESS, which are integrated together using a Triple Active Bridge Converter. The use of DC MG, particularly with parallel TAB converters, is presented as a promising solution to improve system reliability, scalability, and efficiency. The paper outlines the architecture and control strategies using the TAB converter, demonstrating its capability to regulate the DC bus voltage under varying solar conditions and dynamic load changes. The prototype demonstrates the potential benefits of DC microgrids in various applications, including remote areas and critical facilities such as healthcare institutions.
