On Impact of Video Motion on Image Encryption/Decryption. Comparative Results

With the widespread digitization of data, securing message content during transmission through insecure channels has become imperative. Encryption, a process wherein messages are encoded before transmission, necessitates the use of encryption algorithms and keys. In the realm of image cryptography, numerous effective chaos-based image encryption schemes have emerged. This paper presents a comparison of AES cipher, Arnold Cat chaotic map, and Logistic chaotic map in the context of various video motion types (slow, medium, and fast). The comparison includes several performance metrics, which include unified averaged changed intensity, number of changing pixel rate, peak signal-to-noise ratio, correlation coefficient, and histogram of intensity. Simulation results demonstrate that AES and Logistic chaotic map present relatively close performance, outperforming that of Arnold cat map. On the other hand, the correlation coefficient appears to be the only performance metric that presents interesting capabilities to distinguish various video motion types.
