Non-isolated Single Inductor-Based Dual-Input Bidirectional DC-DC Converter with ZCS for Integrating Battery Stack

This paper presents a novel non-isolated dual-input single-output DC-DC converter. The proposed converter integrates two different battery stack using minimal components, along with a bidirectional power flow feature, facilitated by a single inductor. Furthermore, the converter structure enables semiconductor switches with Zero Current Switching (ZCS). The paper also discusses the operation of the proposed converter in two modes, and investigates the effect of parasitic elements on converter performance. A dynamic model of the proposed converter is developed, and stability analysis is presented. Finally, a laboratory prototype of the converter, rated at 200 W and 50 kHz, is successfully fabricated and tested.
