Design of Three-Phase Multi-Winding Transformer of High-Frequency AC Power Distribution Architecture for Space Application

This paper presents a detailed design of a high-frequency three-phase (3ϕ) multi-winding transformer tailored for space applications. Using high-frequency converters is paramount to minimize the footprint of passive components and optimize power distribution architecture, which are critical considerations for satellite power systems. Furthermore, the complexity of designing a multi-winding transformer on a single core necessitates meticulous attention to ensure compactness. This study outlines a comprehensive design methodology for a 10kHz, 100W, 3ϕ multi-winding transformer. The design approach is validated through simulation using ANSYS Maxwell 3D, providing corresponding results. Additionally, experimental validation is conducted by delivering 100 W of power through a 10 kHz 3ϕ high-frequency AC system, affirming the practical viability of the proposed design.
