“A Study To Assess The Effectiveness Of Music Therapy On Depression Among Depressive Patients In Selected Community Areas”

Depression is the common mental disorders. It includes the low degree of mood, sadness, loss of interest in the daily activities, lack of social interaction and aloofness. Quantitative research approach was used in this research with the quasi experimental research design. The research settings of the study were selected community areas of Ahmedabad city Gujarat. Non probability convenient sampling technique was used for sample selection. In this study Music therapy was given to the depressive patients. In this experimental study mean score of pre-test was 12.76 and Post-test score of sample was 11.4. In addition to that mean post test knowledge score is lower than the pre-test score in experimental group. with the difference of 1.36 which indicating the lower level of depression after the administration of music therapy. The calculated’ value t = 24.7 was higher than tabulated ‘t’value 2.06 at 0.05 level of significance. In the control group mean pre-test was 12.2 and mean post- test was 16 with the difference of 3.8 which shows that higher level of depression after no treatment.  The calculated’ value t = 14.16 was higher than tabulated ‘t’value 2.06 at 0.05 level of significance. It was concluded mean score of post-test is lower than the mean score of pre-test which shows that Music therapy was effective in experimental group to lower the level of depression among the depressive patients.
