Anthropometric Measurements of the Child, Characteristics of the Mother and Type of Delivery

Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the anthropometric measurements of the child and the characteristics of the mother, in order to relate these variables with the type of delivery. Theoretical Framework: In this topic, the main concepts and theories that underlie the research are presented. The authors focus and the concepts and categorization of the anthropometric measurements of the child stand out, providing a solid basis for understanding the context of the investigation. Method: The methodology adopted for this research comprises a retrospective cohort study, 93 postpartum women and children were part of the research who were followed from pregnancy to the puerperium period in the period from March 2022 to February 2023 in Basic Health Units of the city of São Luís - MA. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires containing specific variables of the theme. Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that the average weight of the newborn (NB) was 3,280kg, the predominant type of delivery was vaginal. In the discussion section, these results are contextualized in the light of the theoretical framework, highlighting the implications and relationships identified. Possible discrepancies and limitations of the study are also considered in this section. Research Implications: The practical and theoretical implications of this research are discussed, providing insights into how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of public health. These implications can cover several fields, including nutrition, nursing and medicine. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by demonstrating a little explored field of these correlations. The relevance and value of this research are evidenced by showing how the results can influence the clinical practice of the professional, being important for a complete analysis of pregnancy and childbirth.
