Wifind - A Wi-Fi Based Indoor Positioning System
In vast university campuses and other large indoor environments, promptly locating individuals poses significant challenges to productivity and communication. Conventional methods, such as relying on maps or asking for directions, often prove inefficient and frustrating, especially in complex indoor settings. This project introduces a Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning system designed to address this persistent issue by leveraging WiFi RSSI signal proximity and app development. By estimating the real-time location of devices and mapping them to the location of access points within the building, the system enhances indoor navigation and streamlines communication channels. The app provides users with an interface to effortlessly locate themselves as well as find individuals, leveraging the stored location data of access points in a database. With a search feature enabling users to locate individuals or rooms, the proposed system offers a cost-effective and innovative solution to the challenge of indoor navigation in large indoor environments.
