Metastatic tongue squamous cell carcinoma at a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy site via introducer technique
Abstract Background Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) site metastases from head and neck cancers have been reported many times using the pull technique, in which a catheter passes through the oral cavity and pharynx. Case presentation A 69‐year‐old man with recurrent tongue squamous cell carcinoma underwent PEG placement using the introducer technique before chemoradiotherapy. After 6 months, the patient developed a metastasis of tongue carcinoma at the PEG site. Conclusion The risk of PEG site metastasis is not eliminated even with the introducer technique, which is not in direct contact with the tumor.
