EMPIRICAL STUDY OF BOX-TYPE SOLAR POWERED BAKING OVEN

A double glazed box-type solar baking oven was designed and constructed with flat foldable external reflectors at the top and the front of the box to solve the overall energy balance on the thermal collectors.Then, the thermal collectors of oven interior were parametrically studied.The validation of thermal performance of the oven was evaluated in terms of the two figures of merit; F 1 and F 2 .The values obtained for F 1 and F 2 in the present study were 0.16 and 0.34 respectively which is comparable to the basic values assigned for grade B type of solar cookers by ISI of Indian standards.
