To assess groundwater quality using the water quality index in Lucknow City's
Numerous physicochemical parameters were examined, including pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), total hardness, electrical conductivity (EC), total alkalinity, chemical oxygen demand (COD), dissolved oxygen (DO), and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).Evaluate the seasonal trends in the physicochemical features and quantify the influence of the sources.Five samples in total-upstream, midstream, and downstream-were taken during the pre-and post-monsoon seasons of 2023 and 2024 from up to downstream of the Gomti River, a distance of roughly 15 km.In comparison to the pre-monsoon, the postmonsoon had greater values of pH, TSS, TDS, and turbidity; the pre-monsoon had higher values of hardness and alkalinity. The quality of river water was steadily improving annually due to a significant difference between 2022 and 2023 values.Findings showed that poor waste management and unchecked sewage pose a serious threat to Lucknow City's river water supply, which is essential for irrigation and drinking in the area.Human health and the quality of the water are intimately related. The primary cause of the decline in water quality is human activity.Determining the movability of water prior to its use for human consumption is therefore crucial.Drinking water should be devoid of harmful substances, both living and non-living things, and excessive amounts of minerals that could be harmful to one's health.
