Millimeter-Wave and Terahertz System Applications Enabled by Photonics

This talk describes an efficient use of telecom-based photonics technologies in millimeter-wave (MMW) and terahertz (THz) systems, which include high-speed wireless communications, imaging and radar systems. System concepts and key device/component technologies for the generation and detection of MMW/THz waves are explained in the first half. The second half is focused on several examples of latest applications, highlighting the features and usefulness of photonics technologies.
