Proof-of-Concept of Millisecond-Order-Temporal-Resolution 4D X-ray Tomography with Multibeam X-ray Imaging System
We have realized the world's first 4D X-ray CT with sub-millisecond temporal resolution and spatial resolution of about 10 μm without sample rotation using a synchrotron radiation multibeam imaging system. The proof-of-concept experiment was performed at a bending magnet beamline BL28B2 in SPring 8. We also succeeded in visualizing the moment of fracture of rubber in three dimensions without rotating the sample. Our approach has the potential to visualize high-speed phenomena in nonequilibrium systems that could not be seen so far, and is promising in a wide range of fields from academic research to industrial applications.
