A Segmented-Blade Trap and the Oscillatory Motion of Trapped Ions

We report the fabrication process of a segmented-blade ion trap. With a confined ion, we explore the nonlinear dynamics of the ion's motion. Driven beyond the linear regime, a variety of unexpected behaviors are expected.
