A Temperature-Insensitive Photon Buffer for Temporal Multiplexing and Hong-Ou-Mandel Interferometry

We demonstrate a Hong-Ou-Mandel Interferometer incorporating a fiber-based photon delay line designed to suppress temperature sensitivity. Thermal expansion of the optical path is effectively balanced by negative temperature dependence of birefringence of a polarization-maintaining fiber.

Abstract

We demonstrate a Hong-Ou-Mandel Interferometer incorporating a fiber-based photon delay line designed to suppress temperature sensitivity. Thermal expansion of the optical path is effectively balanced by negative temperature dependence of birefringence of a polarization-maintaining fiber.
