AC Loss Optimization of HTSPPT Winding Based on Flux Diverter

The AC loss of a high-temperature superconducting pulse transformer (HTSPPT) is essential for determining the energy storage capacity and size of the pulse power supply in an electromagnetic launch system. Especially in the continuous pulse launch system, the superconducting winding coil will produce significant AC loss during constant charging and discharging. This paper modelled the HTSPPT in the continuous pulse transmitting power supply system. The AC loss is reduced by adding the flux diverter. An analysis is conducted on how the placement, quantity, and structural characteristics of the flux diverter impact the AC losses of the superconducting pulse transformer. The simulation findings indicate that the total AC loss of the HTSPPT with the flux diverter is reduced by 70.2% compared with that without the flux diverter by setting the parameters reasonably.
